Police have increased their patrols at a nature reserve near St Neots following a recent assault. 

Officers have been patrolling Little Paxton and Paxton Pits this week after a woman in her 50s was attacked while walking her dog. 

The victim, from Little Paxton, was found unconscious by dog walkers at about 7.40am on Thursday, June 29.

She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, while the dog was found unharmed a short distance away.

The woman's watch was then handed in to the visitor centre at Paxton Pits, at about 2.30pm on Saturday July 1. This led to a renewed appeal from police. 

"We are appealing for the person who did this to get in touch as they could have vital information which could help their inquiries," said a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabuary.
