The Cambridgeshire Youth Ballet Company is returning to perform in Huntingdon on October 29 with a bespoke ballet production of The Stories of Beatrix Potter and Friends.

The ballet has been choreographed for the company by this year's director and Royal Ballet trained dancer Saskia Lockey. Audiences of all ages are invited to come and enjoy the enchanting retelling of Potter's iconic tales told through classical ballet. The production will bring to life familiar characters including Peter Rabbit, Mr Tod, Jemima Puddleduck and Squirrel Nutkin.

Now in its third year, the Cambridgeshire Youth Ballet Company offers exceptional training and performance opportunities to talented young dancers aged from eight to 18 years from across Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas.

Cast members rehearse once a week in St Neots and use the experience to enhance their existing dance training. The company's training culminates in a spectacular performance of an abridged ballet and modern ballet galas. All work is inspired by up and coming choreographers.

This year's director, Saskia Lockey, has choreographed The Stories of Beatrix Potter and Friends especially for the Cambridgeshire Youth Ballet Company. Saskia is a professional dancer and choreographer. She trained at The Royal Ballet School where she performed in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and The Royal Ballet Gala at The Royal Opera House. She has also performed in a number of West End productions including Oliver!, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Starlight Express.

Commenting on this year's CYBC production, Saskia said: "I have chosen to create 'The Stories of Beatrix Potter and Friends' as I felt it would bring fond childhood memories to everyone who has grown up with her stories and as a mum to two young boys, reading them Potter's stories at bedtime never fails to captivate their imaginations. This ballet will appeal to both adults and children alike and we are looking forward to bringing this magical ballet to Huntingdon audiences."

There will be two performances of The Stories of Beatrix Potter and Friends on October 29 at 1:30pm and 6pm at the Hinchingbrooke Performing Arts CentrC. Tickets are available at: www.ticketsource.co.uk/bpotter or call 01480 223331.
