FANS of the annual Ramsey 1940s weekend are in for a treat this year, as event organisers plan the biggest and best event yet.

The not-for-profit weekend promises a journey into one of the most prolific eras of the 20th century, with the sights and sounds of the 1940s taking over the whole town, and The Hunts Post has teamed up with the organisers to give away two family day passes worth 20 each.

|n its ninth year, 2011 sees a change in venue, as the site moves to a 36-acre venue known as The Camp. First used in 1939 to accommodate an anti-aircraft battery in the area, by 1940 it was being used to house some of the troops evacuated from Dunkirk.

The weekend kicks off with an all-new Blitz Night Dance on the Friday, which includes live entertainment from the era and a traditional bangers-and-mash meal.

Saturday night welcomes back the Big Band Dance in the camp’s very own drill hall, with live music from the popular Sticky Wicket Swing Orchestra, and Sunday morning sees a moving Drum Head Service, commemorating those who fought and died in world conflicts, before the spectacular finale by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The whole weekend will be packed full of lots to see and do, including fashion shows, vehicle displays, tank rides and a licensed bar.

With a huge range of stalls selling all things forties, including uniforms, authentic civilian clothes, postcards and medals, the Ramsey 1940s weekend will have everything to meet nostalgic needs.

To stand a chance of winning a family pass to the weekend just tell us how many acres is the new site for this year’s event.
