A SPINE tingling supernatural thriller that sees a teenage couple stuck between their 20th century present and their Civil War past lives is coming to Huntingdon.
Mouthpiece Productions Ltd (MLP) present The Bridge at the Commemoration Hall in High Street on Friday, October 1 at 7.30pm.
Tom and Lucy are on the run. Offered shelter and friendship by a mysterious stranger, they hide away in an ancient house. As time passes, Lucy becomes convinced that she has been in the house hundreds of years before. Lucy believes she visited when she and Tom were fugitives running from Oliver Cromwell’s army after the bloody Battle of Worcester had put an end to the English Civil War.
Playwright Alex Jones said The Bridge is historically accurate, coupled with social comment and would be of interest to contemporary theatre audiences.
Director Larry Rew said the characters are natural and the events Gothic.
He said: “The Bridge’s imaginative script provides a challenge to director and actors alike. Without giving too much of the plot away, the shifts in time and space inherent in the play require a complementary shift in the psychology and perceptions of the characters. The changes steal up unnoticed, or with a sudden shock, leaving the characters with a sense of fear, disorientation, and an unnerving feeling of foreboding.”
