Charismatic saxophonist Lee Thompson will create his own brand of madness when he takes to the stage at the Cambridge Junction next month.

Thompson was the founding member of Madness and wrote the band’s debut hit single ‘The Prince’, which propelled the “nutty boys” to stardom when it went to the top of the charts.

He will bring his 10-piece band, The Silencerz, to the Cambridge venue on May 8 and The Hunts Post has two pairs of tickets up for grabs if you fancy going to the show.

Accompanying him on stage will be guest DJ Terry Hall, from Two Tone legends The Specials.

The Silencerz are a chance for Lee to abscond from Madness and the Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra.

Thompson will treat concert-goers to some of the reggae, ska, funk and Motown that has inspired him over the years with tunes guaranteed to get fans on their feet.

The Two Tone ska movement swept the nation in the late 70s and early 80s and saw the advent of the Nutty Boy’s dance, which is still legendary amongst a new generation of fans. Invitations to guest vocalists and brass players make sure everyone is kept on their toes – so fans should expect the unexpected as well as some old favourites.

Guest DJ Terry Hall, is a ska-punk pioneer who has absorbed many musical influences. There will, of course, be some classic Two Tone, ska and reggae, but he also mixes in everything from funk to punk and other tracks from his vast record collection.
