VISITORS to Ramsey in August will be taking a trip back in time when the village hosts its award-winning 1940s weekend.

The event has won a Huntingdonshire Association for Tourism Award (HAT) and is run in association with The Hunts Post and Turbine Motor Works Ltd.

It is being held on Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22 at RAF Upwood.

Last year more than 7,000 visitors, some from as far away as America, turned out for the event, helping to raise thousands of pounds for Cambridgeshire charities. People of all ages donned 1940s outfits and all 1,000 tickets for the Saturday night Hanger Dance sold out.

This year’s entertainment includes living history displays, tank rides, Lindy Hop and Jitterbug dance session, a vintage clothing fashion show and aerial displays. There will even be stalls offering all things 1940s, including Spam sandwiches.

As well as the people of the 1940s, the weekend will shine a spotlight on the machines that made the age iconic with a display of classic cars and motorbikes and armoured military vehicles.

Another of the highlights is the Saturday night’s hangar dance with music provided by the Opus One Big Band. 1940s dance is encouraged but not essential.

We have two family tickets (two adults and two children) to give away to attend Ramsey 1940s Weekend.
