Award-winning trumpet player and composer Laura Jurd is set to give a sparkling performance at Cambridge Modern Jazz.

The club, which is held at the Hidden Rooms, Jesus Lane, will host her as part of her album launch tour for new project Human Spirit on Thursday, January 15.

Originally commissioned by the 2013 London Jazz Festival, it comprises a series of pieces written to feature Dublin-born vocalist Lauren Kinsella.

The songs enter the realms of rock and folk music whilst providing a platform for improvisation and creative dialogue between the musicians.

Sure to be a vibrant and exciting evening, the group will include Jurd and Chris Batchelor on trumpet, Kinsella on vocals, Colm O’Hara on trombone, Alex Roth playing guitar, Mick Foster performing bass sax, and Corrie Dick on drums.

INFORMATION: Doors open at 7pm and the concert will start at 8pm. Tickets cost £15, or £12 for students, including U3A and Hidden Rooms members.
