Wine of the Week
Tesco Finest Tingleup Riesling 2010/11, Australia (reduced to �7.99 until June 19). Fresh, aromatic and flavoursome trophy winner - a crisp, refreshing mouthful with grapefruit, lime, lemon, tropical fruit emerging and floral hints. Delicious chilled on its own or with say, spicy Asian food.
Whites & Reds
Triade Fiano/ Falanghina/ Greco 2010, Italy (reduced to �6.74 at Waitrose until June 26). Dry, tasty blend of regional grapes delivering almond, herby aromas and nice balance of rounded tropical and citrus flavours. Baked fresh trout will also approve.
Cave de Tain, Les Hauts de Pavieres Crozes-Hermitage, France (reduced to �8.24 also at Waitrose). Rich, robust multi-award winner with intense black fruit aromas and flavours, peppery, spicy, herbal notes and smoky cedarwood edge. Good with hearty meat dishes.
Masterpeace Gold Reserve Chardonnay 2011, Australia (half price, �4.99 at Morrisons until June 24). Straigtforward, fruity, refreshing, tropical and lemon fruited version. Easy drinking party and versatile food wine.
Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Redbridge Creek Chardonnay and Shiraz 2011/10, Australia (both reduced to �5.24 until July 3). Two rich, ripe, full bodied wines from consistently good Bertoli stable. Peach and apricot flavoured Chardonnay with contrasting citrus zest, plus hints of buttery vanilla oak. Then a sumptuous, complex Shiraz with red berries, plums, dark chocolate and spice coming through.
Vanderburg Chardonnay/Chenin Blanc and Shiraz/Pinotage 2011, South Africa (both reduced to �4.24 at selected Co-ops until July 3). Zingy blend with citrus led and tropical, banana aromas and flavours. Plus a spicy, yet rounded red blend with appealing berry and plum fruit.
Tesco Finest Block 19 Shiraz/ Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 (reduced to �5.99 until June 19). Simple, rounded, spicy, award winning blend with attractive, lasting, mainly black fruit flavours.
Champagnes
Lanson Black Label and Rose Label Brut NV (Both �10 off to �21/25.99 at Morrisons until July 7). Two enjoyable, elegant, flavoursome champagnes, both with signature Lanson crisp freshness.
