And if you want a sneak preview, the single Storm Chaser - which is 11.5 minutes long and accompied by video of live performances -- was released on YouTube on October 13 and is also available on Soundcloud. The four-piece, John Davison, Craig Seymour, Glenn Eastoe and Tom Cahill, formed in the summer of 2010, and have managed to notch up some huge gigs in that time, winning them an army of fans. The Simpletone have twice appeared at the Cambridge Rock Festival and in 2013 they won the Cambridge Band Competition and performed at Strawberry Fair and the Unison Big Weekend in Cambridge. They then went on to support New Model Army on a full UK tour in April 2014. The New Model tour was a great experience, said John. We learnt so much from it and it was a big learning curve for us. There we were setting up alongside this big band with all their professional equipment and for us it was suddenly the real thing. The Simpletone, who describe their style as rock/grunge and name Black Sabbath and Pearl Jam among their influences, have had to work incredibly hard to be in a position to launch three albums; all have full-time jobs and touring and recording all has to be fitted around work and family commitments. Of course the dream is to be able to do this full-time, but at the moment it just isnt possible so we spend whatever spare time we have writing and organising and trying to play live as much as we can, said Glenn. We have this incredible fan-base in St Neots and that is essential in order to help build up our name and we couldnt have got this far without the support from friends and family. The new album has been a year in the making and is heavier in style than the first two, Rampenny (20?? and Dark Matter (2014). It is a bit more progressive, certainly a change in direction for us, but we felt we needed to move forward and stretch ourselves and do something a bit different, said John. We think this is some of the best stuff we have done and we are just looking forward to getting it out there now and people listening to it. The album is released on November 1 and will be available from iTunes and Spotify. For more details of the band, check out their Facebook page.
