A FREE music festival showcasing some of Cambridgeshires most talented bands is being held in St Neots later this month. St Neots Town Council will be holding the free festival over the bank holiday weekend featuring local up-and-coming talent and professional artists and performers. From 27 to 29 August, Sunfest will take place on the Regatta Meadow at Riverside Park, St Neots. All events at the annual festival are free and there will be attractions including archery and a funfair, along with community and trade stalls. Sunfest has been billed by the town council as one of the best free music festivals in the area and promises an impressive line-up of entertainment. It will also be raising money for charity with the mayors balloon race taking place on the Sunday. This year the principal charity being supported is Help for Heroes with funds also being donated to Speakability and community projects. Town mayor, Councillor Gordon Thorpe said: All events are free surely this must be one of the best free events for miles. We are really excited and are looking forward to a fantastic weekend of entertainment. The festival will focus more on music than ever before, with a large combination of Cambridgeshire bands performing across the weekend. Cllr Thorpe added: The St Neots Sunfest will concentrate more on musical events than in former years. Finally, on Monday, August 30, we will feature a Proms in the Park to close the weekend of music and fun. Artists booked to perform at the festival include Satellite to Nowhere, Split Whiskers and Soulweaver. Other acts confirmed include Orbital Kaos, Midlife Crisis, the Mark Gamble Band and Emerald Sky. There will also be a fireworks display scheduled for the Sunday evening. INFORMATION: The festival is running on Friday, August 27 from 6.30pm to 10pm and Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29 from noon to 10pm.
