On February 11, members of the SJ School of Dance took part in the East Anglian Street Dance Championships at the Vivacity Bushfield Leisure Centre, in Peterborough.

The event bought together more than 1,000 street dancers and spectators and dancers and crews competed in a range of performance categories, including solos, duos and teams, that showcased hugely popular street dance movements such as break-dancing, popping, locking and waacking.

SJ was placed highly in solo, duo and team categories. The dancers have now qualified to compete for major titles in the UDO European Championships and the UDO World Championships later this year, a highlight in the street dance competition calendar that sees dancers from all over the world come together to compete.

Sara Johnson, principal of SJ, said: “Our students always enjoy competing at UDO competitions and we regularly attend competitions around the country as well as the annual one in Peterborough. We’ve worked hard in preparation for this competition and were thrilled with the results. Our team, solo and duo dancers look forward to competing at the UDO World Championships in August.”
