A dance troupe from St Neots have been crowned World Street Dance champions at an event held in Glasgow.
Members of the SJ1 troupe, from SJ School of Dance, took part in the United Dance Organisation’s (UDO) World Street Dance Championships, competing against more than 19 teams from across the globe.
The championships, held at the SEC Glasgow from August 23-26, saw 10,000 attendees from across 35 countries and five continents taking part throughout the prestigious four-day day event.
Throughout the weekend, dancers including SJ1 performed their electrifying routines, including popular street dance styles such as hip-hop, break dance, popping and locking.
With an impressive judging panel of internationally acclaimed celebrity judges watching on,including Swoosh, founder of Britain’s Got Talent finalists Flawless and the founding father of hip-hop dance Buddha Stretch, SJ1 wowed the crowd.
The dance school also attended with younger team SJ2 who made it to the finals and were placed ninth out of 24 teams from across the globe. They also had several solo successes.
Sara Purssell, principal of SJ School of Dance, said: “The world championships was an incredible weekend. Team SJ1 placed as world champions and team SJ2 coming ninth.
Both teams have worked extremely hard and I’m so proud of their success.”
