Soul legend Jaki Graham will be performing live in St Neots in July in what will undoubtedly be a night to remember for music fans.
Graham remains one of the most appealing and enduring soul singers to emerge from the UK and will perform classic soul tunes - guaranteed to get the audience up on their feet.
She made her singing debut at a school Christmas talent contest, singing Michael Jackson’s Ben, which she won, and joined her first band, One Night Affair, at the age of 17, followed by the SRO Band and then Ferrari. She recorded a session for a jazz funk group called Medium Wave Band and it is from this that she was spotted by talent scout, Brian Freshwater, and signed with EMI in 1983. She went on to have hits with Round and Around, Set me Free, Breaking Away and Step Right Up.
Graham will have support from Harriet Millier, who is from St Neots, and who provided support for the legendary soul singer Alexander O’neal when he performed in the town last year. The event will also feature DJ Ricky Lee Hall who will provide some classic soul tunes.
