The world-renowned Shakespeare’s Globe returns to Cambridge Arts Theatre next week with the greatest love story of all time, Romeo & Juliet.
A violent street brawl between rival families is the prelude to Romeo’s first encounter with Juliet. Despite this, and the fact that Juliet has been promised to another, they fall in love.
But any plans for their future happiness are cruelly destroyed by renewed violence between their families and the tragedy begins to unfold.
The artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe, Dominic Dromgoole directs alongside Tim Hoare, throughout what will be Dromgoole’s final year at The Globe. Together they have directed a stripped down version of the tale which breathes new life into a Shakespearean classic.
Typically performed in the open-air Globe Theatre.
The production is being stage at the Cambridge venue from Tuesday, June 30 till Saturday, July 4. Performances are at 7.45pm from Tuesday till Saturday with matinee performances at 2.30pm on Tuesday and Saturday.
