A Night at the Bar D will play in the beer garden at Floods Tavern in St Ives from July 14 to July 16, featuring stories from favourites like Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Nights Dream and even Macbeth. William Shakespeares work has had a big impact on me as an actor and his plays and his characters fascinate me, Oliver, from Needingworth, told The Hunts Post. Mainly because all of the themes, problems, situations, celebrations and challenges that appear in his plays are still so relevant to the world which we live in 2016. I wanted to commemorate 400 years since his death with a special production, and the Floods Tavern beer garden is the ideal venue. We have the backdrop of the Great River Ouse, which allows our cast to arrive by boat, and this allows us to stage a very unique piece of proper British theatre. In fact, the production comes from Momentum Theatre Company Olivers very own creation - and will be the teams first-ever show. Our aim as a theatre company is to produce engaging, relevant and entertaining theatre, the 28-year-old said. My background in theatre started when I was 10 and I have worked with many local theatre societies during that time, most notably The Centre Theatre Players, Spotlight Productions and Shakespeare at the George. Last year I graduated from the Guildford School of Acting, and it was there where not only was I inspired to act, but also to create my own theatre. The production will see actors perform well-known scenes from the three plays, alongside The Merry Band of Mechanicals, music originally composed by Simon Kidney, and a team of dancers choreographed by Vicky Grant. We are blessed to have an amazing cast, a very talented creative team and a hard working production team. We are all working together to create a piece of theatre which we hope will live long in the memory for many years to come. Its an epic way to celebrate a British theatrical icon, Oliver added. If you love Shakespeare this is for you and if you unsure give us a try. Tickets are £10 and early booking is advised. Places can be secured at Floods Tavern, in The Broadway, or from The Hearing Centre, in Crown Street, also in St Ives. Alternatively, call 07799 421 318.
