The Offord Players (TOPS) are in rehearsal for their next production Busybody, which will be staged in June.

The Jack Popplewell comedy is being directed by Sarah Hogben and was originally performed by TOPS in 1996. The revival of this hilarious play includes some of its original cast members.

Detective superintendent Harry Baxter, is plagued with a head cold and dragged from his bed by busybody Lily Piper to find a body that vanishes. Trying to get the facts from Mrs Piper proves a challenge, as her endless chatty verbosity requires all of Baxter’s tact and patience. Motives for the murder abound and all the office staff, including the dead man’s wife are under suspicion. Baxter’s self control snaps completely when the corpse himself comes walking into the office, very much alive. All would appear to be well, but with some twist and turns, enthusiastically hindered by Mrs Piper, both corpse and murderer are identified.

Performances are on June 14/15/16 at Offord Village Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced at £8/9, are available on the Ticketsource website, or call: 01480 811798 or go to: www.theoffordplayers.co.uk.
