A new cinema screening event in St Ives launched to an enthusiastic full house at the St Ives Corn Exchange earlier this month.
Screen 2, which has evolved from the monthly Screen St Ives community cinema event, showed the romantic comedy Dead Cat.
Director Stefan Georgiou, who lives in Cambridgeshire, came along to introduce his film, sharing his inspiration for the story, describing the generosity of all those involved in making the film on a tiny budget. He also talked about how the screenplay developed, and the warm reactions of audiences at film festivals and in small cinemas around the country.
Screen 2 will continue in the Tony Burgess Room at the corn exchange on the first Thursday of each month, running alongside the main Screen St Ives programme, which is now well established in the Charter Hall. Find out more at www.screenstives.org.uk.
The next Screen 2 film is Las Acacias (12A) - a beautifully observed Argentinian film that turns a road movie into a swelling meditation on wounded hearts and rekindled hopes. This will be shown on September 7 in the Tony Burgess Room at the corn exchange. On September 15, Screen 1 will be showing Rams (15) in the venue’s Charter Hall.
