Louis Smith was back on top of the Strictly Come Dancing leader board at the weekend as his a fun-filled Charleston with Flavia Cacace won him top marks from judges Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell. His coach PAUL HALL was delighted Louis is back on form.

WOW! At last the real Louis is out. Saturday’s dance was the best yet and Mr Smith showed just what a performer he really can be. Great stunts, wonderful expression, all wrapped up in a fun story line that had the audience on its feet.

I’ve always defined true talent as the ability to learn things quickly, and Louis has certainly picked up on the judges’ critiques to show just what a master he is at adapting and taking on board the views of the experts.

We once had to do a pommel horse display in the atrium of a large office complex in the City, watched by hundreds of stockbrokers and high powered businessmen. Louis jumped on the horse to perform his routine and halfway through, to my horror, he stood on the horse and stared back at his polite and rather quite audience.

“Come on you guys, this is hard work,” he told them. At which the assembled suits broke into rapturous applause and much appreciation at this amazing gymnast who managed to give a running commentary while still circling round the apparatus.

I’ve always known Louis to be a great performer and Saturday’s show has hopefully increased his chances for him to be gracing our television sets for a few more weeks.

Keep going Louis!
