Intrepid fundraiser Callum Fairhurst is calling on companies and individuals to enter a charity karting challenge in memory of his brother Liam.
The endurance charity karting challenge in memory of Soham teenager Liam Fairhurst who died after a long battle with cancer in 2009, aged 14, will take place at Red Lodge Karting near Newmarket.
Callum is asking people to sign up for the event, which takes place on June 26, on what would have Liam’s 21st birthday, and is supporting supporting cancer charity, CLIC Sargent
The event, called Challenge 21 is presented by the Liam Fairhurst Foundation, a charity set up in memory of Liam, to help young people affected by cancer, disabilities and illness.
Callum - who has entered his own team into the event - said: “We really need teams to get signed up for this brilliant event. Liam would have been 21 this year and whilst we will never get over our loss we are proud to run this event in his name.”
Challenge 21 will see teams of four to a maximum of eight drivers as they compete for the Liam’s Smile Trophy in addition to other prizes for top fundraising team and fastest team.
Each race event will last three hours, plus 20 minutes of open practice per team and entrants can choose from a morning or afternoon session.
