These two live shows, from the Birmingham Stage Company, are part of the Horrible Histories series are being performed during half-term week, from October 27-31, using actors and 3D Bogglevision special effects. Incredible Invaders tells how the Celts are crunched when the ruthless Romans invade Britain. Can crazy Caratacus save the nation? Hide behind Hadrians Wall and witness the savage Saxons smash their way in. Can the audience stop King Alfred burning his buns? Discover whos at Sutton Hoo and survive the vicious Vikings as they sail into the audience. Groovy Greeks takes the audience from savage Sparta to angry Athens to discover the truth about growing up in Greece. Take on the Trojans and pummel the Persians and then compete in the first-ever Olympic Games and appear in the first play. Meet your match with the Minotaur and be zapped by Zeus. There are some half-term activities to accompany the show, including a post-show talk on Thursday at 2pm, with historical Greek characters such as Athena and Poseidon. The Arts Theatre is also e are also hosting a Horrible Histories Halloween Extravaganza on October 31, which will see the theatre turned into a ghoulish cave with free face-painting and costume competitions. Performances are at 2pm from Tuesday Saturday and 7pm on Tuesday - Friday and Saturday at 10.30am.
