Punk Rock Musical, Green Day’s American Idiot will be at the ADC Theatre Cambridge from March 26-30 and we have a special 30 per cent reader’s discount on tickets.
It’s presented by The Pied Pipers Musical Theatre Club, one of Cambridge’s oldest community theatre groups. They have been going since 1951.
The group is inviting us to rage against the establishment. The rock opera explores coming of age in a messed-up world. Johnny, Will and Tunny chase their dreams in a post-9/11 America. Fuelled with sex, drugs, and vital angst, the friends’ ideals smash against reality with rock ‘n’ roll force.
The show, which features the music of Green Day, won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album when it burst onto the stage in 2009.
Director Megan Stickler-Sell said: “My vision was to create something that is relevant today, while keeping the essence of a gig feel for audiences to enjoy. It’s impossible not to move to this incredible music. The show is packed with sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll. It has stunning musical arrangements and edgy dance numbers and we hope audiences will be rocking along with us every night.”
