Get ready to twirl your umbrellas as legendary Hollywood musical Singin’ in the Rain comes to Huntingdon.
The cast from Spotlight Productions will be tapping and splashing their way through the ever-popular show at Hinchingbrooke Performing Arts Centre from April 7-11.
The 60-strong group have been in rehearsal since last June to ensure that they whip up a storm in this all singing, all dancing spectacular.
Based on the classic MGM film, Singin’ in the Rain tells the story of the first Hollywood musical, when the silver screen found its voice and left silent movies – and some of its stars – behind.
Packed full of charm, romance, comedy and tinsel town glamour of the all-time favourite 1952 movie starring Gene Kelly, this is the ultimate feel-good show featuring songs from the original MGM score including Good Morning, Make ‘em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the classic Singin’ in the Rain.
With high-energy choreography and a skilful set design – including a large amount of water – it promises to shower the audience with everything you could wish for from a hit musical.
Guests will be transported back to the ‘roaring 20s’, where ‘talkies’ are about to spell bad news for silent movie star Don Lockwood (Ben Tomalin) and his leading lady Lina Lamont (Joy Gingell).
Lockwood looks around for a solution and finds it in chorus girl Kathy Selden (Michelle Morgan) who has the voice of an angel.
But the scheming Lina is all out to take advantage and you will be rooting for her to finally get her just desserts and for Don Lockwood to realise it is Kathy he loves.
The audience can enjoy fast-tapping choreography supported by a semi-professional band, plus silent movie spoofs and plenty of comedy too.
Expect an evening of family entertainment with all the style of the West End.
The Hunts Post has two pairs of tickets to give away for the show on Tuesday, April 7.
