Soprano Anna Sideris, mezzo-soprano Sarah Shorter, tenor Hugh Benson and bass Richard Walshe are warming up their vocal cords ahead of their performance at St Marys Church, Eaton Socon. They will join forces to give a rendition of Bachs St John Passion together with professional orchestral players. The piece tells the evocative and dramatic story of Christ and the crucifixion, with memorable chorales and fugues that show off the skills of both the soloists and the choir of about 80 singers. Sideris completed her undergraduate degree in music at Oxford and is now studying at the Royal Academy of Music, while Shorter is on the Royal Academy opera course, having made her debut with Scottish Opera at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival. Benson, meanwhile, is a vocal postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music and Walshe is a postgraduate at the same establishment. INFORMATION: Starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £10 with £8 concessions from 01480 392322, choir members, or on the door. Accompanied children go free.
