If youre looking for something positive to do with your spare time, then a new meditation course which starts tomorrow (Thursday) at the Commemoration Hall, Huntingdon, may be of interest. Buddhist nun Gen Nyingpo will be teaching the three-week course with three one-hour sessions to help you master the basics of the practice. It is intended to help participants to calm their minds and find true happiness, even when trying to cope with difficult circumstances. Benefits promised include improved concentration and focus in daily life, reduced stress and anger, increased confidence and self-esteem, and more positive relationships with others. Gen Nyingo is from the Drolma Buddhist Meditation Centre in Peterborough, where a wide range of classes, courses and retreats for meditation and modern Buddhism for all levels from complete beginners to more experienced meditators are offered. She has been a Buddhist for nearly 20 years and ordained as a Buddhist nun for 18. She has experience in the capacity of a resident teacher in Iceland for several years and at Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre in Brighton. Although tried and tested Buddhist meditation techniques will be demonstrated, you do not have to be a Buddhist, or follow any religion, to attend. You also do not need any experience of meditation or special clothing for the sessions. INFORMATION: From 7pm-8pm. Each session costs £5. Advance booking is not required, but you can book for the full three weeks in advance to receive a discount. For more, call 01733 755444 or go to www.drolmacentre.org.uk.
