TWO local theatre companies for young people are joining forces to launch a part-time school from September.

Best Theatre Arts and Tip of the Iceberg Theatre Company are holding a free audition workshop at Sandringham School on The Ridgeway, St Albans, next Tuesday, August 8, for any young people aged between eight and 18 who might be interested.

School principal Lisa Schulberg said: “There are schools that offer fun drama, a bit of everything, an exploration of performance in enjoyable and nurturing ways. But what happens when you are that little bit more serious, when you want to focus on acting, when you have talent and potential that needs nurturing – but you don’t want to give up everything else or head off to a London based or full-time drama school?”

The Best School of Acting will run on Saturday afternoons during term-time with optional classes in other disciplines like singing, audition technique or LAMDA.

Best’s co-founder David Bevan said: “It’s a hugely exciting and totally new concept. We are very enthused about the potential for a school like this – it could radically change the way young acting talent is nurtured in the region.”

Anyone wanting to attend the workshop audition should contact Best on 0845 901 1908 (info@bestschoolofacting.com) to book. More information can be found at www.bestschoolofacting.com
