NEWS: LINE-UP FOR GREEN MIND BIRTHDAY GIG ANNOUNCED

CAMBRIDGE-based promoters Green Mind have long been responsible for bringing some of the brightest new talent to the local scene, with a history that dates back to bands such as Snow Patrol and Franz Ferdinand at the Boat Race.

This year, Green Mind will be 10 years old, an incredible achievement in an often competitive market, and to celebrate they have a gig at one of their now regular venues, The Haymakers, in Cambridge on Saturday, February 26.

Headlining will be the brilliant Lonely The Brave, with Fuzzy Lights, The Puncture Repair Kit, The Bomb Factory, Cavalier (featuring Green Mind founder Simon Baker) and The Narcissists. It’s an all-day show, starting at 3pm, and tickets are �8 in advance.

NEWS: BEGUILED LOOKING FOR NEW BASSIST

EXCELLENT rock band Beguiled are currently seeking a new bass player.

The highly established band have a wide range of material, with a studio booked up in July for recording of their album alongside a host of gigs waiting.

The local rockers recently released an album called ‘Visions Of Blue’, and are ideally seeking a competent bassist who could also supply backing vocals, although vocals are not essential.

NEWS: ST IVES ROCKERS HEADING TO GREAT YARMOUTH

ST Ives rockers Blue Haze are playing a big show at The Residence in Great Yarmouth on Saturday, February 19.

The band are famed for their Pink Floyd renditions, feature an excellent line-up of experienced musicians, and have built a large following on the local gig scene. Their show in Great Yarmouth will see them supported by a local band, and tickets are �7.50. NEWS: ORIGINAL FOLK MUSIC NEEDED

LOCAL DJ Jordan C is seeking original folk music for his brand new radio show.

With an aim to highlight the accessible and traditional ends of the folk world, slots are available for all folk genres – such as traditional, nu-folk, folk-rock and folk-pop. Local bands will be offered an interview and acoustic performances. For more information email Jordan@saaphirebluepr.co.uk

GIGS ROUND-UP

THIS weekend is packed with top gigs on both Friday and Saturday evening.

On Friday night, excellent covers band The Vees return to the live scene, complete with a new drummer.

They will be playing a wide and varied range of material at The Rivermill in Eaton Socon, with a free show that kicks off at 9pm.

Also on Friday, it’s The Living Room show at the cellar of CB2 Restaurant, Cambridge, showcasing the best in new acoustic music – this week featuring Fred’s House, Special Preserve and Patrick Plunkett (tickets �4, doors 8.30pm).

On Saturday evening, Miles Hunt – lead singer of The Wonderstuff, is playing at The Man On The Moon pub (Norfolk Street, Cambridge) with support from Keltrix and Timshel (tickets �8, doors 7.30pm) while over at the Portland Arms, touring London-based band The Volitains are headlining a show which also features Cambridge-based acts Aidy, Eureka Stockade and Under Arcade (doors 7pm, 6pm entry).
