A live screening of Antony and Cleopatra from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is showing at Cineworld in Huntingdon on June 18.

The most geographically sweeping of Shakespeare’s plays, Antony and Cleopatra’s setting is the entire Roman Empire, and is based on one of the most famous relationships in history; the affair between Antony, at the height of his power, and Cleopatra, the alluring and fascinatingly ambiguous Queen of Egypt.

Cleopatra has bewitched the great Mark Antony, soldier, campaigner and now one of the three rulers of the Roman Empire. When Antony quarrels with his fellow leaders and throws in his lot with Cleopatra, his infatuation threatens to split the Empire in two.

Olivier Award-winner Eve Best’s performance brilliantly captures Cleopatra’s sensuality.

Directed by Jonathan Munby, the cast for Antony and Cleopatra also includes Ignatius Anthony, Peter Bankolé, Jonathan Bonnici, Phillip Correia, Jolyon Coy, Phil Daniels, Paul Hamilton, James Hayes, Rosie Hilal, Sean Jackson, Daniel Rabin, Sirine Saba, Obioma Ugoala and Clive Wood.

Shakespeare’s Globe On Screen offers audiences a ticket to the best seat in the house from the comfort of their local cinema, and the chance to experience the unique magic of the world-famous Globe Theatre, all captured in high definition and full surround sound.
