A fantastic line-up of acts will take to the stage at next weekend’s Springfest event in Haddenham, including Stray (pictured).

The Friday night kicks off with Steve Logan (a Neil Young tribute act) and Fresh Cream, whose credentials are demonstrated by the fact that the band features Jack’s Bruce’s son Malcolm and Eric Clapton’s nephew Will Johns.

On Saturday, Are You Experienced? will play a range of classic Jimi Hendrix material. They are preceded by London-based Medicine Hat, who play a blend of Southern hard rock and country music, more bluesey rock with female fronted Red Butler and Split Whiskers. Saturday is completed with Dave Edwards’ Three Piece Suite, and tribute acts: Incredible Creedence and Miss-Led, and the show is opened by Next In Line at 11am.

Sunday also starts at 11am with three local bands; Cambridge-based hard rock band Derecho take to the stage first, with The Woodleys from St Ives following them and then Folk/rock band Fred’s House, who are also from Cambridge.

Next up are prog-rock veterans Solstice, still lead by founder guitarist Andy Glass, who have released a dozen studio, live and compilation albums in their 30-year history. More hard rock follows courtesy of the award-winning Hekz, who will be playing material from their own critically acclaimed albums and a tribute to legends Deep Purple.

The penultimate band on Sunday is Stray who have released 16 albums in their 40-year history and will be making a special appearance at the festival.

Band leader Del Bronham said: “We are looking forward to playing the festival. We feel we have a pretty close relationship with Dave Roberts and all the guys and gals who organise the Cambridge Rock Festival, having played for them a few times over the years and as there will be no festival this year it was great to be asked to perform.”

Springfest will close with Great Yarmouth’s Buster James, who always packs it out with a mixture of blues oriented rock.

INFORMATION: Advance tickets for the festival on May 29/30/31 are priced from £12-£35, plus options to camp, and are available from www.cambridgerockfestival.co.uk.
