St Neots Town lifted the Hunts Under 16 Cup – and handed their manager a perfect present in the process.

The Saints side beat Godmanchester Town White in a showpiece clash at Yaxley last Friday night as boss Iain Parr celebrated his 50th birthday.

Rohan Humphrey gave St Neots an early lead when poking the ball home from close range, but they were pegged back early in the second period by Ben Gough following a defensive mix-up.

Harry Hinson restored the advantage when converting an Adrian O’Hara corner and victory was sealed by Joe Rider, who produced a fine individual effort in the closing stages.

Parr, who handed over coaching duties to Richard Churms and Tim Sergeant for the evening, said: “It’s been a tough season for the lads in the Junior Premier League, so it’s great to finish with a trophy.

“We’ve now been lucky enough to win five on the spin in the Under 16 age group and we’re proud of that achievement.

“We’ve got our Under 12s, Under 14s, Under 18s and first team playing in county final in the next few days so hopefully the good run can continue.”
