Wonderful Westfield Junior School and magnificent Middlefield Primary Academy lifted trophies at the recent Hunts School Sports Partnership Tag Rugby competition.
Hinchingbrooke School was the stage for an event which featured almost 400 pupils representing 24 different primary schools from across the area.
Westfield were victorious in the Large Schools bracket for ‘A’ teams with Godmanchester Community Academy finishing as runners-up and Buckden CofE Primary School taking third spot.
Westfield also shared top billing in the ‘B’ teams category long with fellow St Ives school Thorndown Primary.
Westfield are rapidly building a reputation for sporting success after starring in a recent HSSP girls’ football tournament as well.
The Small Schools tag rugby prize went to Eynesbury thanks to the exploits of Middlefield Primary Academy.
Newton Community Primary School finished as runners-up in that section with Alconbury CofE Primary School taking third place.
The latest HSSP event was supported by a group of Year 9 Sports Leaders from Hinchingbrooke School who took on refereeing and organisational roles.
Next on the HSSP calendar are three cricket events for pupils in Year 1 and Year 2.
