MICHAEL Bevan was an impressive winner for Campol Boxing Club at a Birmingham City Police ABC show.

The 21-year-old put on one of the best bouts of the night as he overcame David Wilson of the home club, dominating the centre of the ring and frustrating his opponent throughout.

Fortunes were not so good for Campol debutant Dean Willison, who had to overcome a 90-minute delay before his bout against Lee Reeday.

He was caught cold in the first 10 seconds, and given an eight-count, but regained his feet to rock his opponent with a few jarring left hands.

However, a trip midway through the first round saw 26-year-old Willison briefly on the canvas again, leading to the referee stopping the fight.

Head coach Mick Taylor said: “It was an ideal way to start the season for Michael – he boxed well, controlled the bout and put on one of the best shows of the night.

“Dean was unfortunate to be stopped after a simple trip, but he’ll bounce back stronger from this experience.”
