Over 100 people turned up to watch the event as skaters performed dances to music, displayed hockey routines and even did a routine to ABBA's 'Dancing Queen'.

Ryan Gore, 15, was crowned best overall hockey player while Emily Stanford, 13, won the accolade of best overall club champion. Clubman of the year was Andrew Williamson with clubwoman being Cherrilee Warner. Three-year-old Jack Moseley was the youngest competitor, performing the novice routine with a coach.

The speed categories saw a one lap race between two skaters around the hall, with skater progressing through to the final in a knock-out competition of three or four rounds, and Tom Ward and Jodie Childerley were the novice winners .Harry Warner and Rosie Lydon triumphed in the intermediate section and in the advanced category Jake Neilson and Leah Butlin were the winners.

Beverley Moseley was branded the most promising adult and there were special achievement awards for Grace Moseley, Georgia Barker and Gareth Davies. The most promising awards went to Jason Pitman, Chloe Ward, Jodie Parnel and Lauren Barker and the most promising newcomers were Laura Fisher, Even Drury, Ellie McCreanor and Charlotte Quinn.

There were numerous hockey awards dished out, with Jason Latimer and Sam Reynolds the most promising players and William Dolan being awarded for special achievement. Robert Collins was the skills winner, Alex Gallichan the coach's player of the year and Gore, four-times previous club champion, was the players' player of the year.

Connie Warner won for benevolence to skaters before the freestyle competition started, with different routines being performed. Jennie Childerley and Drury were the winners in the novice freestyle and Harry Warner and Grace Moseley won the intermediate freestyle, performing set routines. Leah Butlin won the advanced section, performing her own choreographed dance to music including a jump, spin and arabesque, though Emma Williamson was rewarded for her outstanding performance.

There were two exhibitions, with pairs skating by Michael and Thomas Powell and free dance by Gore.

Club chairman Chris Gore said: "This was the best year we have had with so many competitors dressing up in full costumes, and having worked so hard since Christmas in training. I wish I could have placed them all in first place, as with every one coming on a long journey themselves they all deserved a medal."
