Waresley are sitting second in the table in the second promotion spot below leaders Cambridge NCI after their 77-run defeat of Hardwick & Caldecote last Saturday, and third-placed Newboroughs defeat at Cambridge. They are two places but just eight points above their last day opponents Warboys but third-placed Newborough are still a threat with an away game at Yaxley as their last fixture. Things didnt go completely smoothly for the Waresley on Saturday with the usually high-scoring Donalds pair Simon (0) and Ian (4) back in the pavilion early on. It was time for a skippers innings and Steve Warman hit a great 61 with the team finally finishing on 189 for six from 48 overs. Terry Hayden took four wickets while Joe Colebrook took two for 16 with Nigel Buckingham-Jones also chipping in as their opponents crashed and burned and were all out for 112. Warboys beat Fordham by a single wicket to keep themselves in the hunt. The club only won promotion to the TuckerGardner Premier League last season when they pipped Huntingdon & District to the Hunts County Bats title on the last day. At Fordham the home side set Warboys a target of 126 but Warboys made heavy work of that, losing nine wickets in the chase with opener Daniel Wright top scoring with 30. In Division One Godmanchester Town fell three short in their chase of visitors Camdens 178, while St Ives Town beat relegated Khalsa by 35 runs. March posted Ramsey a target of 180 but despite Jordan Cafferkeys 39 and Sam Rippingtons 31, last seasons champions fell six runs short to lose their eighth game of the campaign. On Saturday Ramsey will finish with a Huntingdonshire derby when Godmanchester visit the Cricketfield. St Ives are away at Nassington.
