Godmanchester Town recovered from a shaky start to post a competitive score at home to Ramsey.

They lost opener Mark Askew and skipper Matthew Pateman early on but Paul Swannell (90) hit 10 fours and a six, and was backed by the dependable Matt Davies-Binge (38) and Kiran Adhav (43). David Carlaw (4-43) had the best figures of the visiting bowlers.

Ramsey’s batsmen, with the exception of James Markland (40) and Simon Cafferkey (50no), failed to make decent scores as Adhav (4-17) and Swannell (2-22) sent them back to the pavilion. But they couldn’t shift Cafferkey, who was there at the end with number 10 Mark Edwards (10no), and the match was drawn.

Waresley enjoyed a successful run chase at Wisbech Town thanks to opener James Dallaway’s 80no.

The hosts lost nine wickets in putting on 180, two for the economical Joe Colebrook (2-34), and three each for Blair Tickner (3-62) and Jim Keys (3-68), a run out the other wicket to fall.

Dallaway hit 11 fours and a six in his unbeaten innings, taking the visitors to their target with 10 balls to spare.

Warboys lost by 80 runs at home to Sawston. Bowling first, they found taking wickets tough as the visitors put on 213-4.

And the total proved too many as they were dismissed for 133 in 40 overs.

St Ives Town came agonisingly close to securing a win at promotion-chasing Weston Colville, falling just five runs short of victory.

The bowlers did well to dismiss the home side for 132, the wickets shared between Bevis Moynan (2-29), Shaun Asplin (3-33), Benjamin Thomas (3-27) and Ryan Withers (2-28). It could have been better though, as Will Lygo had to go to hospital with what turned out to be a double fracture to his little finger, suffered when dropping a caught and bowled chance.

Despite a rocky start to their innings, skipper Richard Greiller (28) and Tom McCarthy put Town back on track. Lygo returned to the action, fingers taped up, and with McCarthy put St Ives within six runs of victory. But no one could stay with McCarthy, who was ninth out for 51, and the visitors collapsed to 128 all out, losing their last three men for just one run.

Eaton Socon dug in to secure an away draw with second place Saffron Walden II. Ryan Vale took 3-76 as the home side made 225-6. In reply, Eaton lost early wickets but avoided defeat, largely thanks to David Humphrey making 50no.
