It was a day to forget for local teams in the Tucker Gardner League Division One title chase.

Ramsey were beaten by leaders Foxton in a top-of-the-table showdown at Cricketfield Lane while reigning champions Godmanchester came unstuck at form team Wisbech.

Ramsey came up 33 runs short in their crunch clash as they were dismissed for 205 after pacesetters Foxton had posted 238-7.

The defeat leaves Michael Cafferkey's men 32 points behind their conquerors with only half-a-dozen games remaining.

They also surrendered second place in the standings to a Wisbech outfit who eased to a 60-run success against Godmanchester.

Overseas ace Jarryd Phillips provided plenty of resistance as he made 83, but Godmanchester were dismissed for 180 after seeing their hosts pile up 240-9 despite a four-wicket haul from Tariq Aziz.

Eaton Socon collected a welcome derby win as they triumphed at Waresley by 65 runs to snap a five-game losing run.

Captain Jonny Carpenter was back to his high-scoring best with an innings of 84 as Eaton Socon put together a handy score of 223-9 despite the bowling exploits of Jack Richards (4-28) and Gary Cole (4-42).

And they also had a four-wicket ace of their own with Joe Watling claiming 4-29 as the home side were removed for 158.

Table-toppers St Ives fluffed their lines with the bat as they slipped to a costly defeat at Ufford Park in Division Two.

Ryan Withers' men went down by 13 runs after slumping to 79-7 at one stage of their reply.

They eventually made it to 145 thanks largely to an unbeaten 56 from Nathaniel Edwards in his first appearance of the summer for the first XI, but still came up 13 runs short of their hosts' posting of 158.

Their lead at the summit has now been cut to just two points over a March side involved in a tie with Newborough yesterday.

But there was finally some cheer for Huntingdon & District who boosted their survival hopes by snapping a seven-game losing streak.

Martin Burton's side beat Warboys by 85 runs at St Peters Road after posting 215 to move to within touching distance of safety.

The skipper took 4-17 as Warboys were skittled for 130 after Nomi Khan (48) and Faisal Javed (39) had led the way with the bat.

Huntingdon & District remain in the bottom three but are only a point behind the two sides immediately above the drop-zone - the defeated Warboys outfit and a Sawston & Babraham team who beat Kimbolton yesterday.

Chris Gilthorpe took 3-26 and top-scored with 30 as Kimbolton went down by 65 runs. They were undone by the loss of three early wickets and were dismissed for 140 in pursuit of 205.
