Paul Swannells reigning champions eased to a five-wicket success against their 2014 predecessors and current title hopefuls Ramsey at The Parks. Three-wicket hauls from Russell Withey and Jarryd Phillips helped Godmanchester remove the visitors for 112 before Simon Rose (46) and Tariq Aziz (43) steered them to a comfortable triumph. The result leaves Ramsey third and Godmanchester fifth at the halfway point of the top-flight season. They sandwich an Eaton Socon side who were pipped by one run by table-toppers Nassington in a dramatic finish yesterday. The locals came up agonisingly short as Ben Gowling was dismissed lbw to leave them stuck on 150 in pursuit of the leaders 151. That dismissal completed a late collapse with Eaton Socon losing four wickets for the addition of just 14 runs after looking well-placed to take victory. There was no such trouble for rejuvenated Waresley as they roared to a fourth successive victory by seeing off bottom side Blunham. An unbeaten half-century from Tom Griffiths was the highlight of Waresleys solid tally of 181-5 before they again impressed with the ball. Rob Lowin (3-15), Nigel Buckingam-Jones (3-17) and Jack Richards (3-28) did the vast majority of the damage as the basement boys were dismissed for 131. Stand-in skipper Richard Greiller starred as St Ives stormed back to the top of Tucker Gardner League Division Two with a 34-run triumph at Warboys. Greiller top-scored with 63 as St Ives posted 151 before removing their hosts for 117 to climb back to the summit at the halfway stage of the season. It was a contest featuring plenty of smart bowling with Ben Duncan (4-32) and Sam Vallance (3-24) impressing for Warboys before Faisal Khaliq (4-25) and Michael Speed (3-16) did likewise for the table-toppers. The other all-local clash at that level yesterday ended in success for Kimbolton. They emerged with a 43-run win at a Huntingdon & District side skippered by their former player, Martin Burton. Ruben Claassen delivered another stellar showing for Kimbolton. He cracked an unbeaten 90 off just 71 balls as they piled up 230-6 before taking the prized scalp of Huntingdon & Districts own overseas ace, Dario Cummins, for 87 as the hosts were dismissed for 187. Opener Marcus Wilkinson also contributed well for Kimbolton with 45 before Chris Gilthorpe led their bowling effort with 3-35. Claassen took 2-18 and captain Mark Roberts returned 2-19.TUCKER GARDNER LEAGUE Division OneEATON SOCON lost to NASSINGTON by 1 run. Nassington 151 (M. Rawling 3-42).
