Ramsey captain Michael Cafferkey cracked a century for the second successive Saturday.
Cafferkey was responsible for more than half of his side’s total in a 60-run triumph at Eaton Socon in Tucker Gardner League Division One yesterday.
His innings of 104 helped the title hopefuls reach a total of 185 despite eight of their batsmen being dismissed in single figures. Cafferkey’s younger brother, Elliot, was the other exception on 21.
But that still proved to be more than enough to claim victory as top Division One wicket-taker Mark Edwards led a bowling effort that removed the hosts for 125.
Edwards claimed 3-14 from eight tight overs while Jon Cade bagged 3-37 as Eaton Socon found life tough with the bat.
The victory enabled Ramsey to hop back into second place in the standings. They trail leaders Foxton by 28 points with four games to go.
Ramsey climbed above a Wisbech side who beat another local outfit, Waresley, yesterday by seven wickets.
Waresley made a great start as openers Jack Richards (64) and Nicholas Taylor (59) produced a stand of 135, but then lost nine wickets for just 74 runs to reach 209-9.
It was a target their hosts picked off with two-and-a-half overs to spare and a stack of wickets in hand.
Godmanchester suffered a third successive defeat when going down by five wickets at Nassington.
Overseas ace Jarryd Phillips continued his fine form with the bat courtesy of a top-scoring 86 as the locals amassed 229.
Captain Paul Swannell and Dave Askew also added half-centuries to a tally which proved insufficient.
Table-topping St Ives blew away bottom side Weston Colville to ease closer to Tucker Gardner League Division Two title glory yesterday.
Ricky Greiller smashed an unbeaten 148 as the championship chasers piled up 289-8 before dismissing their relegation-bound hosts for just 66.
Faisal Khaliq claimed 5-32 and Nikhil Kumpukkal took 4-32 as St Ives needed only 13.4 overs to remove Weston Colville and clinch a 223-run success.
Ryan Withers’ men now sit 10 points clear of closest challengers March, who had to work considerably harder to claim a 28-run win against locals Warboys.
That result left Warboys three points from safety as they battle to avoid a second successive relegation.
Matt Cooksey hit 71 as they were dismissed for 201 in pursuit of March’s posting of 229-9.
Huntingdon & District continued their revival with a third successive victory. Martin Burton’s men triumphed by 122 runs at Fordham after dismissing the home side for 92.
Junaid Sheikh bagged four wickets while Shakeel Khan and Nomi Khan claimed three victims apiece as the locals made light work of securing victory after Kamran Khan had led their batting effort with 53.
And Kimbolton were also successful yesterday as they brushed aside strugglers Newborough by nine wickets, cruising past a target of 165.
