YOUNG golfers from across the region descended on Heydon Grange golf course earlier this month for the Cambs and Hunts Junior Girls Championship.

And there was success for Old Nene golfer Amy Pillinger, who took the stableford trophy with an excellent score of 33 points. Meanwhile St Neots golfer Alex Hutchinson won the nine hole competition with an excellent score of 27 points.

Overall winner of the championship was Miranda Brain, from the Gog Magog club near Cambridge, who triumphed despite the blustery conditions. Her sister Tabitha Brain won the Handicap Cup to complete a successful day for the family.

St Neots player Natalie la Pare just missed out in the Biddy Wade Trophy, which honours a player's best four rounds of the past year, averaging 68.5 compared to the 66.25 average of winner Sarah Smith (Links).
