Huntingdon boasts a new British champion – 13 year-old Ciara Verdicchio.
The Rotations Club member won the Nat 1, Cat 1 category at the National Development Plan finals in Telford last weekend.
Verdicchio, a pupil at St Peter’s School in the town, has been taking part in the sport for five years.
She follows in the footsteps of younger sister, Carys, who is a previous British title-winner at 9-10yrs level
Rotations development coach Sonia Verdicchio said: “It is wonderful to have a British champion and we are in a very good place as a club.
“Hopefully this will give all of our up and coming gymnasts something to strive for in the future.”
Fellow Rotations member Katie Marson finished fourth in the Level 7 competition at the National Development Plan finals, while Chloe Harrison was seventh in the Level 4 13+ bracket.
Hannah Morris also qualified in the Level 8 section, but was unable to attend the finals.
