St Neots Town 3-2 Boston Town

SHANE Tolley’s 86th minute winner secured St Neots a crucial three points in their quest for promotion – after being given an almighty scare by their Lincolnshire visitors at The Hunts Post Community Stadium on Saturday.

The Saints hitman fired home a chance created by Theo Davis and Lewis Webb and was his 30th domestic goal of the campaign and also took his overall tally for the season to 42.

Tolley’s 11th minute opener, a close range finish from a Dan Jacob cross, was matched by veteran Gary Bull’s 25th minute penalty for Boston after a foul by Dallas Moore.

Home debutant Ian Gayle, on as a sub, almost restored the lead, firing against the post after Lewis Hilliard’s corner was headed down by Stefan Moore.

And, when Craig Parker’s shot just sneaked over the line on 55 minutes, despite the best efforts of Neots keeper Luke McShane, an upset beckoned.

However a cracking goal from Stefan Moore squared the game two minutes past the hour, when the striker worked his way across the box before smashing a right-footed shot past James Doughty in the visiting goal.

Tolley then popped up four minutes from time to move Saints four points clear the top with King’s Lynn and Newport Pagnell in FA Vase and UCL League Cup quarter-final action respectively.

Neots are back in action at home against Newport Pagnell tomorrow night, before making the trip to Sleaford on Saturday.

Saints: McShane, Hyem, Davis, Webb, Christon (Gayle), D Moore, Hilliard, Kanuda, (Davies), S Moore, Tolley (Fordham), Jacob.

Subs not used: Gent, Montique.
