Godmanchester Rovers enjoyed a happy homecoming yesterday.
Matt Clements’ men fulfilled their first home fixture of 2016 when thumping Hadleigh 4-0 to continue their fine run of Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division form.
This was a sixth successive victory for a team who have slammed in 26 goals during their current purple patch.
Wideman Austen Diaper needed only six minutes to fire them ahead yesterday with recent recruit John Yambasu doubling the advantage with his first Rovers goal just before the break.
They sealed victory with two goals in as many minutes just after the hour from Lewis McDonald and Diaper.
Rovers remain fourth in the Premier Division standings, but are only six points off the second spot which could be enough to earn promotion.
They face a mouth-watering Hunts Senior Cup semi-final at home to United Counties League Premier Division form team Eynesbury Rovers on Tuesday, 7.45pm
