Hunts men were condemned to a double home defeat by Northants last Saturday.

Father-and-son successes were not enough to prevent the local county from falling to an Adams Trophy loss at Brampton Institute.

James Bowers guided his rink, which also featured Richard Wilson and John Mitchley, to an eight-shot success, while dad Kevin’s trio, made up of Colin Bates and Derek Rose, triumphed by four shots.

But the other four Hunts rinks, skipped by Tony Chapman, Robert Jepson, Owen Kennedy and Ian Swannell were all beaten in a 147-171 overall reverse.

Hunts also endured a miserable afternoon in the Newton Trophy clash at St Ives as they slumped to defeat by 88 shots.

All six home rinks were beaten with John Waine’s trio going down by the narrowest margin of two shots in a 133-221 drubbing.

The two Hunts teams currently sit sixth in the seven-team southern section in the Adams Trophy standings and occupy fifth position in the Newton Trophy table.

They travel to Norfolk for their final matches in both competitions this Saturday.
