SMASHING tennis ace Kira Reuter put in a stunning performance to beat U10 champion Alexandra Hunter at the prestigious Winter National Tour Finals at Roehampton last weekend.

The 10-year-old from Hemingford Grey was invited to compete following her impressive run of form in the four Tennis Winter National Tour events.

And she certainly showcased her talents at the two-day tournament at the National Tennis Centre, alongside some of the best young players in the country.

As well as her impressive 4-0 1-4 13-11 win over Scotland champ Hunter, Reuter defeated Nottinghamshire’s Alice Hill 4-0 5-3 and fellow Cambridgeshire player Anna Loughlan 5-4 4-0.

She narrowly missed out on victory over Wales’ Elin Anderson in the third set tie break, with the match finishing 4-0 1-4 10-7 in Anderson’s favour.

But Reuter was still pleased, saying: “I’m very proud of my performances, especially beating Alex as she’s the national champion.”

Reuter trains four times a week at Hills Road High Performance Centre in Cambridge and is already on the Lawn Tennis Association’s Future Stars programme.

Her hard work has gained her another invitation to the National Talent Identification day, which will be held at Roehampton, on Thursday.
