GODMANCHESTER U8As finished their season in style by becoming the first Goddy team to win the town's annual six-a-side tournament.

Goddy beat their four group-stage opponents with eight unanswered goals, on Saturday.

The team looked less sure of themselves in the semi-final against Brampton, as both teams took time to settle on the bigger pitch.

The deadlock was broken in the second period when Matt Allan scored what turned out to be the winner for Goddy.

Goddy saved their best performance of the afternoon for the final, beating a strong Priory side 4-0.

Callum Harcourt and Matt Leggett, along with keeper Ellis Ogle, played superbly to keep a clean sheet for the afternoon.

Joss Gwynn, Matt Allan, Harry Moran and Lewis Gabb scored the goals.

Priory U8FS had won their first four games, progressing to the semi-finals comfortably.

Their game against Little Paxton was a hard-fought encounter, but after a determined performance Priory managed a 3-1 win.

n SAWTRY Colts U11s Sawtry Colts U11As and Bs played in the Woburn Lions Tournament on Saturday, with the As finishing the afternoon as champions.

The Bs put in an excellent effort, going unbeaten in their four group games, but failed to make the knockout stages after coming second in their group.

Goals came from Conor Gracey (2), Chris Lawrence, Chris Alban, Josh Bennis, Jack Darke and Lawrence Francis.

The As won all but one of their group games, progressing to the semi-finals with ease.

They beat Barnfield 1-0 before going on to beat Leighton Town 1-0 in the final.

The afternoon's goals came from Hayden Bream (6), Zack Fisher (1) and Will de Haviland (2).

A's SQUAD: Jonny Hipwell, Michael Raucci, Jake Howells and Ryan Smith, Hayden Bream, Zack Fisher, Will de Haviland.
