ST IVES players found themselves on top of the table at the Montagu Club in Huntingdon on Sunday - competing in the Subbuteo Huntingdon Open.
St Ives Subbuteo player Darren Butler marshalled his team, in the colours of St Ives Town, to glory in the Plate Competition.
Butler, 32, missed out on qualification for the main competition, coming up short in a group containing England's ninth-ranked player Martin Hodds, the eventual winner.
But Butler was far from finished, and recovered to notch victories over John Devaney and Andy Douglas, before dispatching John Turpin 2-1 in the final.
Butler, who has been playing for 20 years, was only in his second full-scale tournament.
He said: "The day was played in great humour but with real grit and determination. Fortunately the trainers were never called on to the pitch, and the referees had no reason to brandish red or yellow cards."
