SWIMMERS from the St Ives Swimming Club finished their year in fine style with the club's annual awards presentation evening.
Head coach Andy Hunter delivered an upbeat message of the club's performance over the last year after handing out medals and trophies to the club championship-winning swimmers aged from seven to 17. Hunter said he was confident that the club could look forward to an even better year in 2007.
Among the year's highlights were:
# Top six finishes in both the Speedo and Anglian leagues
# Third place at the Cambridgeshire Counties and Cup Gala
# Medals for Callum French and Sophie Sweet at the ASA National Age Group Championships.

It didn't take long for the swimmers to justify the confidence of their coaches as the very next evening saw St Ives triumph at the Biggleswade Christmas relay gala.
Saints were just beaten into third place as Flitwick emerged winners but there were a number of outstanding performances from the boy's and girl's U16 squad on the night.
