Four St Ives Swimming Club talents represented Cambridgeshire in the ASA East Region Inter-County Championships last weekend - and two of them tasted glory.

Andy Weatheritt and Ollie Fitt were both part of triumphant medley relay teams at senior level. Teenage star Fitt was also successful in his specialist event, the 100m backstroke.

James Quinn collected a super second place in the 100m breaststroke at 14 and under level, while Bethan Endicott, who races in the 11/12yrs girls section, took third place in the 100m butterfly.

“It’s a great honour for St Ives Swimming Club to have swimmers representing their county,” said head coach Andy Hunter.

Cambridgeshire finished third overall in the event at Luton, in which they faced opposition from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk swimmers.

St Ives swimmers are in action at the University of East Anglia this Saturday when taking part in the Norwich Mid-Summer Madness Long Course Meet.
