Ollie Fitt led the St Ives Swimming Club charge in the opening weekend of the Cambridgeshire County Championships.

The teenage star won six individual medals and starred in two relay triumphs during an event to savour.

Fitt roared to glory in the 200m backstroke before completing a golden double in the 100m and 200m individual medley races at the Parkside Pool, in Cambridge.

He also followed home clubmate Andy Weatheritt as St Ives dominated the 50m freestyle, and took bronze over 100m in that stroke.

Fitt’s fine exploits earned him a place in the ‘Skins’ shoot-out involving the fastest eight swimmers in the gala - and he also added that crown to his haul of honours.

Fitt and Weatheritt joined forces with Olly Cook and Tom Davis to continue the wave of success for St Ives with medley and freestyle relay triumphs.

A strong St Ives squad was also represented by Cathy Thomson, Fran Crocker, Amy Chalmers, Jaz Dearnly, Cattie Whitworth, Amy Coleman, Becca Keene, Georgia Newstead, Nicole Bradford, Lizzy Ella, Emily Gallagher, Lucy Ella, Connie Newstead, Sophie Turner, Ciera Norman, Katie Warren, Alice Turner, Maddie Todd, Bethan Endicott, Georgia Spencer, Lottie Flynn, Olivia Smith, Charlotte Dodge, Keira Mavin, Millie Taylor, Lucas Dove, Mike Lardner, Jack Mandley, Matthew Hall, Harper Jackson, Evan Taylor, Ed Cochrane, Luke Tunstall, James Quinn, Joe Short, Tom Lucas, Daniel Moyses, Janos Kadar, Connor Brookes, Tiernan Stevenson, Isabel Hemingway Stark, Ella Couchman, Seb Di Siena, Toby Offord and Freddie Clark on the county stage.
