St Ives Swimming Club delivered a dominant display when claiming Arena National League glory last Saturday.

The local talents led from start to finish when triumphing in the second round of the competition, held at Wisbech. St Ives topped the standings by 25 points from runners-up Lowestoft after collecting 18 victories and 20 second places during the 50-race gala.

Cathy Thomson was the most successful St Ives swimmer on show as she roared to two individual victories (ladies open 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle) and also starred in two relay triumphs.

She featured in the successful 4-50m medley squad with Fran Crocker, Amy Coleman and Jazz Dearnley, and the 4-50m freestyle quartet which included Sophie Turner rather than Dearnley.

St Ives also completed a double in the men’s freestyle and medley relays thanks to the quartet of Andy Weatheritt, Mike Lardner, Tom Davis and Lucas Dove.

Senior swimmers Weatheritt, Coleman and Crocker were also individual winners along with junior talents Janos Kadar, James Quinn, Olivia Smith and Bethan Endicott. Quinn and Endicott won two events apiece in their respective age groups.

The Girls 10/11yrs medley relay squad (Amelia Dunn, Millie Taylor, Smith and Charlotte Dodge) were also victorious along with the Girls 15/under medley squad of Ciera Norman, Charlotte Flynn, Ciara Taylor and Turner.
