Eaton Socon exacted a sweet slice of revenge as they continued their march towards the Tucker Gardner League Division Two title yesterday.

Terry Day’s side avenged their only defeat of the season so far when breezing to an eight-wicket triumph at a Kimbolton side who started the day in third place.

There looked little chance of a repeat of the outcome on the opening day of the season once Ryan Vale had helped himself to 5-46 as Kimbolton were shot out for 152.

And Eaton Socon made light work of sealing success with almost 14 overs to spare as Mickey Hay hit an unbeaten 82 and David Humphrey carried his bat for 38.

Captain Day said: “It was a very good day for us thanks to this result and those elsewhere.

“We’ve got ourselves the sort of cushion that means we could almost afford to lose a game. We certainly don’t want to do that though.

“We remind the guys every week there is no room for complacency. I think that was probably the problem on the opening day of the season, but they have been terrific ever since.”
